The Heavy Anglican is a blog devoted to one young man's haphazard attempts to try to make sense of the world, and it is open to any who find his account of interest. The name reflects my interest in heavy metal music as well as my religious and philosophical inclinations - not entirely comfortable with the lightweight modernism of the ECUSA, yet at the same time stubborn (and catholic) enough to refuse to leave it.
I am a High Church Episcopalian, a graduate of Kalamazoo College (BA in philosophy), a former volunteer college guide in AmeriCorps, a former English tutor for RIFLI, a former Peace Corps English teacher trainee and a current grad student of public and international affairs at the University of Pittsburgh. My politics may be described as economically socialist, socially moderate, culturally conservative and foreign-policy dovish. My interests are language, history, theology, economics, heavy metal and the cultures of Britain and China.
